Sway: The Book. I am Swayed.
I am swayed that in fact I did read a book called “Sway: The irresistible pull of irrational behavior” which according to the book is published by Doubleday Publishing. I was swayed to read, by someone I know well (I usually avoid reading books written by living authors - it can corrupt your mind). Anyway, my conclusions are as follows. But wait, before my conclusion I would like to add the following comments:
I am not certain if in fact this book is published, I am not certain that there was a book party this past Wed evening (although time will tell on that) and I am not even certain that in fact the Author is alive (in that case I probably would not been a need to convince me to read this book (actually what I mean to say is, that, I am not certain that the author even exists). Also, the book is allegedly published by Doubleday but a) I don’t know if that is true b) I don’t know for certain that Doubleday exists (also easy to prove). So why in fact do I read this book and actually write this post and actually intend on attending the party? Well, that’s simple- I was swayed… Ok, so what’s my point? Well the point is, that in life, we are swayed every single day in almost every action we do….so the book does in fact state an obvious fact. That being said, The book is very thought provoking for the person who does in fact believe that the author and Doubleday exist ( I actually do) … “Sway” trains the mind to not take anything for granted. In summary it is: Everyday life activities meeting Alfred Hitchcock. It teaches people to think and to ponder (which, as an aside, for some people, is actually is in fact not a very good idea at all). The book also clearly points out the effectiveness of good marketing ……That being said, if one really ponders the book ( which I actually did) you will find that many of the proofs and examples are short on data and long on suspect conclusions on the rationale behind various actions ( including the famous 20 dollar sale). I would best describe it as Freakonomics minus real hard data. Regardless, “Sway” was a great read and given the fact that I am convinced that the author (and publisher ) do in fact exist, should the author write another book (and puts another nice persuasive graphic on the cover) I would actually be swayed by my current experience with this book to actually go out and buy another book .
Where would I buy the new book? On Amazon of course- aren’t they the cheapest? - That’s what their ads say.
